Welcome
Visitors and Newcomers!
We’re delighted you’re thinking about joining us. Here are some FAQs to help you find your way:
What should I expect on Sundays?
Worship at MPC is grounded in the Presbyterian tradition, in the words of poets, and in playful and meaningful engagement with big questions. Whether you join us online or in person, you’ll find people who love to be together and care deeply about their communities. You’ll also find that when we say “All are welcome” - we strive to practice what we preach. We are an LGBT-welcoming congregation, have an ASL interpreter in all worship services, and have space for our youngest members to play and engage in worship as they’re ready.
In worship, we sing, pray, and listen to scripture and other sources of wisdom. Sometimes, we have a sermon, but you may also find us telling stories together, or having a conversation about the scripture together instead of the pastor doing all the talking.
MPC also loves fellowship and food. After worship, whether there is coffee and food or not, you’ll find us lingering in the courtyard or in the sanctuary so we can catch up with old friends and meet new ones.
Is there something for my kids to do?
Absolutely. We believe that worship is a time for all ages to be together. But we also know that it’s real work to sit still. Above all else, we want your kids to feel safe, loved, and welcomed. Our “PrayGround” in the sanctuary is full of toys, books, and giant stuffed animals. There is plenty of green space to explore outside. And lots of space indoors to play, fuss, read, and nap. We celebrate the sounds of children in our midst.
I can’t join you in person. Can I still be part of this community?
You can! There are plenty of reasons to worship from your living room couch. We’re glad that you’re with us, no matter the place.
What’s a Presbyterian?
If you’ve made it this far, you might be worried about how much we talk about predestination. Let us assure you - it’s almost never and only for fun!
We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), a theologically-diverse family of churches formed after many schisms. The PCUSA represents the churches who would ordain women, supported the leadership of Black churches, and ordains LGBTQ pastors and blesses marriages of LGBTQ people.
How can I get connected?
If you come to church on a Sunday, tap Pastor McKenna on the shoulder and introduce yourself. If you’d rather meet with her or other church leaders before you find us in worship, look for contact information at the bottom of this page, or on staff bios.
